An Omani woman wearing traditional Omani clothes which are colorful and embroidered. Note the paste on her forehead called “Rams” which is a preparation of sandalwood paste that is used according to traditional medicine for beauty, perfume, and healing purposes. She is washing the dishes by the banks of the “Falaj” (manmade channel) which sustained life in Omani villages as they carried potable water sometimes across tens of kilometers which was used to irrigate farmland, for bathing and for washing dishes and laundry.
