This is a photograph of the local the butcher Mr. Mahmoud Samraan Suwaid Ambusaidi, one of the locals of Nizwa. He has been in this trade since childhood, starting his workday immediately after the sunrise prayers “Fajr”. His workday would start with slaughtering lambs, camels and cows which he prepares for sale later in the souq. Nowadays, all the butchers have moved from souq Al Sansara to a new location away from the traditional souq which still sells food and agricultural items and artisanal goods.
