This man is using water made available in an indoor pond for ablution. Within the village the channels were sometimes indoors to provide privacy while bathing or ablution, occasionally the channels would go underground with periodic openings and special rooms made for this purpose. The first opening was always considered for drinking leaving openings further down the channel for laundry and dish washing.
