After the renaissance in 1970, the diesel generator was introduced to the market which brought convenience to many homes. Pictured is an Omani woman using it to power the pump producing the running water flowing out of a pipe, which brings water into the home from the nearby well. These wells were called “Tawi” after the stone cladding structure that was its hallmark. Other potable water sources for the village came from the irrigation network called “Aflaj” that utilized the ground water available within kilometers of the village.
